Disaster assistance 29 March 2017

29 March 2017 |Announcements
Information for customers affected by tropical cyclone Debbie

As a specialist agricultural bank, our business model is based on strong relationships with our farming customers.

We understand the long-term nature of agricultural cycles and the impact of natural disasters on the sector – during times such as this, our initial focus is on backing our farming customers as they take the first steps towards recovery.

Cyclone Debbie crossed the coast of Queensland on Tuesday 27 March in the Bowen region causing flooding and destruction to property and services. While the full extent of the damage will not be known for some time, early indications suggest significant damage to horticulture (mainly winter vegetables, including capsicum, tomato, eggplant, pumpkin, cucumber, beans and corn), sugar cane and livestock (cattle) operations within the area, creating a devastating impact on farmers and local communities.

Rural Bank offers a range of assistance measures for our customers who are impacted by natural disasters, extreme weather or unexpected emergency events, such as cyclone Debbie. Each of these measures will be implemented in consultation with your Rural Bank Relationship Manager, and taking into account your individual circumstances.

If you require or believe you will require assistance, please contact your local Rural Bank representative when you are able to discuss the range of assistance measures that you may be able to access.
