Summary of key issues:

  • Maximum and minimum temperatures were generally below average across much of Australia for the week ending 18 October 2016.
  • Water storage levels in the Murray–Darling Basin (MDB) increased by 138 gigalitres (GL) during the week ending 20 October 2016.
  • In New South Wales, general security allocations increased in the Murray and Murrumbidgee systems.
  • Over the week ending 18 October 2016 the world indicator price of wheat (US No. 2, hard red winter wheat) increased by 1 per cent to $195 a tonne.
  • The world canola indicator price (Rapeseed, Europe, free on board Hamburg) averaged US$429 a tonne in the week ending 18 October 2016.
