  • For the week ending 16 August 2016, maximum and minimum temperatures were close to average for much of Australia.
  • The forecast for the next eight days indicates that rainfall is expected across much of southern and eastern Australia.
  • El Niño–Southern Oscillation indicators in the Pacific Ocean remain at neutral levels, though the possibility of a weak La Niña in 2016 remains.
  • Water storage levels in the Murray–Darling Basin (MDB) increased by 241 gigalitres (GL) during the week ending 18 August 2016.
  • In New South Wales, general security water allocations increased in the Murray, Murrumbidgee, and Peel systems.
  • The young cattle indicator price (330–400 kg live weight C3) averaged 635 cents a kilogram in Queensland in the week ending 12 August 2016.
