We have been made aware of two scams that appear to be targeting customers.
The first is a phone scam that begins when a customer receives a call from a scammer purporting to be a staff member from Bendigo Bank. The caller claims the customer is due a fee refund and the caller requires the CSV code from the customer’s credit card to process the refund. In some instances the scammer has even quoted the credit card number to the customer.
Please be aware that Rural Bank believes that any such phone call would be fraudulent. Should you receive such contact, you should not provide any card or account details or personal information to the caller.
The second is a phishing scam targeting bank customers via SMS and email. If you receive such an SMS or email, immediately delete it and do not reply or click on any of the links.
Rural Bank is committed to raising awareness about security of personal information. Visit our Security page for more information.
