With little economic data out this week, market direction and focus will turn to RBA communications for a clue to their thinking on monetary policy. It’s all about whether the minutes from the RBA’s June meeting (where they cut rates) or the Governor’s speech this week confirm the financial market’s view that a July rate cut is slightly more likely than not. And if not July, an August cut is fully priced in (refer chart below).
