  • While rainfall was recorded across all states and territories during the week ending 30 March 2016.
  • While rainfall was recorded across all states and territories during the week ending 6 April 2016, little to no rainfall was recorded across much of western, central and south-eastern Australia.
  • For the week ending 5 April 2016, maximum temperatures were above average in all states and territories.
  • March 2016 set a record for Australia’s hottest March, at 1.7 °C above the long-term average.
  • Rainfall in March 2016 was average to above average for much of Australia, although there was considerable regional variation.
  • Relative upper layer soil moisture for March 2016 was generally average across much of Australia.
  • Water storage levels in the Murray–Darling Basin (MDB) decreased by 132 gigalitres (GL) during the week ending 7 April 2016.
  • The young cattle indicator price (330–400 kg live weight C3) averaged 586 cents a kilogram (dressed weight) in Queensland in the week ending 1 April 2016.
  • The lamb indicator price (18–22kg fat score 2–4) averaged 541 cents a kilogram (dressed weight) in Victoria in the week ending 1 April 2016.
