Our History
Initially called Elders Rural Bank, the Bank was formed in the year 2000 when key banking services in regional and rural Australia were being removed by major banks.
Elders Rural Bank was authorised under the Banking Act 1959 to carry on a banking business whose function was to deliver a much needed specialist banking service to rural Australia.
In August 2009, Elders Rural Bank Limited changed its name to Rural Bank Limited and in December 2010 Rural Bank became a fully owned subsidiary of the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Limited Group. In 2011, Rural Bank and Australia Post announced they were forming a partnership to offer Rural Bank products and services to everyday Australians in rural and regional centres across the country.
